Mindfulness Exercises For Metabolic Syndrome
1. Abdominal Breathing
  • The method involves deep breathing to stimulate belly movement.
  • It is also known as “belly breathing”.
  • Abdominal breathing is a fundamental yoga breath that counteracts the effects of chest breathing.

Steps

  • Sit in a comfortable position on the floor.
  • Place one hand on your upper chest and the other hand on your belly, just below your rib cage.

  • Breathe in slowly through your nose, letting the air in deeply, towards your lower belly. The hand on your chest should remain still, while the one on your belly should rise.
  • Tighten your abdominal muscles.
  • Let them fall inward as you exhale through pursed lips. The hand on your belly should move down to its original position.

Note: This breathing exercise can be done for 5-10 minutes and it can be practiced 3-4 times a day.
