6. Nadi Shodhana
  • Combination of the Sanskrit words nadi, which means “channel,” and shodhana, which means “cleaning” or “purifying”.
  • Also known as “channel cleaning breathing” or “alternate nostril breathing”
  • It soothes the mind, body, and emotions.

Steps

  • Begin by taking a full, deep inhalation followed by a slow, gentle exhalation.
  • Fold the tips of the index and middle fingers inward until they touch the palm at the base of the right thumb.
  • This is done by using your thumb and a combination of ring and little finger to close your right and left nostrils alternately.
  • Now close your right nostril using thumb and inhale deep into the belly from the left nostril.
  • Now close the left nostril from which you inhaled using ring and little finger together and open the right nostril to exhale fully.
