Hypoglycemia (Low Glucose Levels)

It is a condition where the blood sugar (glucose) level falls below the normal range (< 70 mg/dL).It can affect both physical and mental functioning.

Consequences (if not treated immediately)
  • Brain damage (since the brain depends on glucose)
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Seizures
  • Accidents or falls
  • Death, in extreme untreated cases
Causes of Hypoglycemia
  • Skipping meals or not eating enough
  • Overdose of insulin or diabetes medications
  • Excessive alcohol consumption
  • Prolonged physical activity without proper food intake
  • Other medical conditions
