6. Nadi Shodhana
- Combination of the Sanskrit words nadi, which means “channel,” and shodhana, which means “cleaning” or “purifying”.
- Also known as “channel cleaning breathing” or “alternate nostril breathing”
- It soothes the mind, body, and emotions.
Steps
- Begin by taking a full, deep inhalation followed by a slow, gentle exhalation.
- Fold the tips of the index and middle fingers inward until they touch the palm at the base of the right thumb.
- This is done by using your thumb and a combination of ring and little finger to close your right and left nostrils alternately.
- Now close your right nostril using thumb and inhale deep into the belly from the left nostril.
- Now close the left nostril from which you inhaled using ring and little finger together and open the right nostril to exhale fully.
